Three kit houses were demolished in 2015, including this Montgomery Ward house.

One of the remaining 11 kit houses was listed for sale this month. It is a lovely, well-kept Dutch Colonial from Harris Brothers. Unfortunately, any house in Hinsdale is a teardown candidate, and the odds of survival for this one are not good.

The same door hardware from the Harris Brothers building materials catalog. It was the "Ardmore" design. |
The architect of the Harris No. 2012 was Benedict J. Bruns.
I believe this No. 2012 was built around 1924 by the Tyndall family. John Tyndall, the son, worked as a driver for the Harris Brothers branch in Berwyn.

Oh, I'm a sucker for a dutch colonial - at least from the outside :) I didn't know this Harris model, so thanks for posting.
I'm sure the new house at 610 N. Grant isn't made as well as the Kenwood was, but it's a nice looking house :)
